Tuppence was the first
to arrive.
She was only five months and
had her left eye damaged; the lid and muscles
were left ripped.
The Humane Society, in Orangeville
Ontario, paid for the operation, provided the
owners surrender her.
They, the former owners, claimed
that she had damaged the eye herself!
The first home she went to,
in Toronto, returned her, saying that she “terrorized”
the lady’s poodle. (She was only a puppy,
wanting to play!)
We had answered a local plea
to supply a home, but were told that she had
already gone to a home in Toronto. The Society
called us back, asking if we were still prepared
to offer her, then named Benji, a home.
She has since gained championship,
fly-ball status, and loves to perform for crowds
at fairs; both in fly-ball and fun agility courses.
She is a lot smarter than
I, so I cannot claim any of the credit. She
competed internationally in the U.S., within
5 weeks of starting training, where she won
her first medal and ribbons.
She has run with, and worked
as a ‘trainer dog’ with Scottish
Border-Collie teams, the fastest dogs in fly-ball
competition. Her stamina, and love for the sport,
is second to none.
Has a real tomboy attitude.
Loves people, especially children.
Insists & thrives on O&M
recipes.
Favourite
trick: Barks at front door, when our
other dogs run there, she doubles back for their
bones!
