O&M™
is 100% balanced food to meet your pet’s
nutritional needs.
Dogs and cats instinctively
crave meat and are best fed as carnivores. They
easily digest and utilize meat protein and animal
fat.
The
foundation for O&M™’s great
taste is nutritious whole white chicken and
turkey meat, plus top quality whole grains.
Our Process
| Our
optimum methodology ensures complete nutritional
quality, significantly reducing nutrient
losses during the cooking process.
Garlic oil and natural
cold-pressed sunflower oil, along with
chicken fat, provides the fatty acids
needed for healthy skin and a shiny coat.
|
Our Ingredients
Proteins
Protein is an integral part of your pet’s
diet. Chicken and turkey white meat and
our low ash fish meal and eggs, bring more
to the dish than just good flavour—they
are lean, excellent sources of protein.
High quality meat protein provides all the
essential amino acids dogs and cats need.
Minerals like calcium and phosphorous are
present in the chicken, too.
|
Grains
Whole brown rice, brewer’s rice, whole
oats and barley are healthful grains. They’re
important sources of B vitamins, carbohydrate,
iron, fiber and selenium. They aid in the
function of the enzyme system.
|
Fats
Chicken fat, natural cold-pressed sunflower
oil and garlic oil are top quality sources
of fat. They’re chosen for their skin
and coat properties. They’re rich
in linoleic acid and Omega 6 fatty acids.

Kelp
Kelp is known as the “vegetable”
of the sea. It’s one of nature’s
richest sources of organic chelated minerals,
vitamins and amino acids. It contains more
than 12 vitamins, 60 minerals and trace
minerals, and 18 key amino acids, all in
a natural, balanced form. Improved utilization
of food consumed by your pet, is one of
the many benefits that kelp can offer.
|
Chelated
Minerals
Minerals are directly and indirectly involved
with almost all physiological functions
within any living organism. Unfortunately,
most minerals in their natural inorganic
state cannot be absorbed. To increase utilization,
minerals can be surrounded by certain substances
such as amino acids to fool the body into
absorbing the mineral...this process is
called chelation. In this form, unnecessary
deficiencies are less likely to occur.

Probiotics
Probiotics are microflora preparations of
friendly bacteria normally found in a healthy
digestive tract. Lactobacillus acidophilus,
Lactobacillus casei, and Lactobacillus plantarum
to name just a few. They provide a source
of these friendly bacteria. These microflora
not only produce a variety of substances
to aid in absorption of nutrients, but also
maintain optimum performance during stress.

Vitamins & Minerals
Vitamins E, C, and A (Beta-Carotene), Selenium,
Zinc, and Manganese are antioxidants. They
play a vital role in protecting body cells.
|
We don't use artificial preservatives
O&M
products are preserved naturally with vitamins
C & E, and nothing else. Below is a
partial list of popular preservatives used
in the pet food industry today.
Other companies use these preservatives
to stop the fat from going rancid, to give
a longer shelf life, and to cut down on
costs, O&M does not.
Here are some reasons why:
|
BHA
& BHT
Have been
linked to liver and kidney problems, birth
defects, slow growth rates, behavioral problems,
metabolic stress, increases in cholesterol
levels, allergic reactions, baldness and
brain defects in laboratory animals. What
could it be doing to our pets?
|
MSG
A flavour enhancer
and preservative that many Chinese restaurants
use. So what's the big deal? Well, ask people
who experience migraines after ingesting
MSG. Some people experience tingling sensations
in their fingers after eating food cooked
in MSG.
|
Sodium
Metabisulphite
Another preservative
used in pet foods. In humans, this chemical
has caused weakness, difficulty in swallowing,
loss of consciousness and brain damage.
|
Sugar
There can be as much as 25% sugar (sucrose,
caramel or corn syrup) in semi-moist dog
food to keeps the food moist. Cat foods
use about 10% Propylene glycol because cats
are not as attracted to sweets as dogs.Dogs
actually become addicted to sugar. We are
now seeing in record numbers dogs developing
diabetes.
What else can be attributed
to sugar? How about hypoglycemia, obesity,
nervousness, cataracts, tooth decay, arthritis
and allergies. Sugar can also drain vitamins
and minerals from the body.
Propylene glycol has
caused unexplained irregularities in the
red blood cells of cats. For dogs it can
cause skin problems, hair loss, dull coats,
diarrhea, overweight and even death. Propylene
glycol is a chemical that is used in antifreeze,
oil and waxes.
Cats can actually become
addicted to food that contains this preservative.

Ethoxyquin
The FDA (USA) and some of the
large pet food companies say that Ethoxyquin
is safe for pet food. But some would disagree,
blaming this preservative on chronic maladies
that have been affecting purebred dogs
at alarming frequency.
There has been a severe
increase in immune related diseases among
pets, directly related to pet foods preserved
with Ethoxyquin.
Other problems that
are arising are itchy skin, lethargy,
hair loss, thyroid problems, reproductive
disorders, birth defects and cancer.
The chemical was developed
by a company as a rubber hardener. It
is also used as a herbicide and insecticide
(anti-scale agent) for apples and pears. |
